Let’s be honest… there is nothing quite as exciting as having a gorgeous pantry! I am here to breakdown the process. Pantry remodels can seem daunting - but don’t stress:) This guide will make it a much less challenging project. By the end of your remodel, you will be beaming;)!!
PANTRY PLAN OF ACTION
1. Clear a space in your house where you can store all of your pantry items during the remodel.
You want this to be a space that is accessible - as this is where you will be obtaining your pantry goods throughout the design process. If you plan on doing any renovations such as repainting pantry walls, adding shelves, etc., make sure the pantry items are set aside somewhere accessible and out of the way. You don’t want to place everything on the dining table and end up eating dinner on the floor if your project ends up taking a few days.
2. Group your pantry items into the following categories:
BAKING
BREAKFAST
SNACKS
GRAINS
DRY PASTA
SAUCES
CANNED ITEMS
CONDIMENTS
3. Order aesthetic containers to hold bulk items.
Order air-tight cereal containers, pasta containers, dry good containers and back stock baskets based on your individual inventory. My favorite pantry organizers come from the brand OXO Good Grips POP Container. You can buy an assortment of pantry organizers from this brand at The Container Store or on Amazon.
Place item by item in the clear containers working through all different categories. Place all extra items (aka back stock) in baskets beneath the appropriate category. This part of the process can feel a bit like tetris. It is an art to make a pantry both beautiful and functional! Do not fret - try to enjoy the puzzle of sorting containers by category. And remember, at the end of the day functionality is always the main priority in spaces designated for food storage.
Label the containers. Labeling is the finishing touch:) This small detail will transform your space into a pinterest-worthy masterpiece!! Be sure to take a before and after picture and tag The Detailed Life.
Happy Organizing!
